It’s become apparent at this point that Angi Kyang suffers from bouts of depression that has so far resisted treatment. Her brother Mikhail, who battles his own stress conditions, has told me a few facts about their life on Kert. He doesn’t say much and it isn’t easy to listen to, but it does tend to ruin one’s faith in humanity.

I can only hope that Angi’s time here—and Mikhail’s—serves to dull the past.

Angi doesn’t talk much, but it’s clear she likes horses. Yesterday, Ezebel discovered that Angi has never seen a horse in person.

Choose:

1. There’s a high-class racehorse breeder just north of our campus. They might let us in for a tour. I take Angi there.

2. There’s a little petting zoo in the foothills. I take Angi there.

3. There’s a wild horse ranch to the south. It’s private, but maybe I could persuade them.
