I know some of the athletes are still climbing that ladder, but I don’t have the time right now to get in people’s faces about it.

Oreilli visits me.

He says he placed a homemade recording bug on the ladder wall where Ezebel overheard the Assembly staff in the elevator. I have a feeling he has a lot of shady skills from his past in the Tally system. And if the Assembly hears about it, well, I hope I’m irreplaceable.

I had told him not to do anything before I had a chance to think. Sure, it’s been a month, but this is a serious business. And my team planting listening devices just made it a lot more serious.

I chastise him gently for jumping the gun on me. He argues back before we both back off. I should have made a decision earlier, and he should have waited for my decision. Mistakes were made.

I ask him if he overheard anything of value.

Oreilli says the bug hasn’t picked up much, but he did get one snippet. I listen to the recording:
