S22
I swirl up a new set of documents, ones provided to me by Ambassador Ekard at the Waterfall. I find his role in this Assembly very interesting, because he is clearly not drumming to the same Assembly beat.
“These are medical findings on Angi’s condition. Before you become outraged about having them in my possession, I was given them by Ambassador Ekard.”
Lev turns to Drake, getting red in the face. Ekard shakes his head in warning. “Careful, Lev, you’ll need to review Section Three-Eight of the reporting requirements. Medical documentation pertaining to athlete performance must be provided to the coaching staff. Don’t make the mistake of believing I haven’t thought this through entirely.”
I continue. “These records indicate that Angi had a very rare condition that causes progressive disruption in the deja pathways when the athlete immerses with a hero. Angi didn’t have a treatable condition. She had a tragic difficulty that could not have been solved, except by her no longer playing.”
I hold my hand up quickly as the protests from the Assembly rises. “Let me be clear that I am not accusing Lev of lying to me about Angi’s condition. He may merely have been keeping information that he saw as classified.”
Draw an explosion in the “Boom” box.
